Andros flights - where your trip starts
Getting to Andros Island, Bahamas is very easy. We may be slightly off the beaten path, but that's a big part of our appeal. Even though we're not in the center of a big tourist hub (thankfully!) we're really quite accessible. Getting here is just a quick one-hour flight from Fort Lauderdale or a 12-minute air hop from Nassau. If you're staying in Nassau on either end of your trip, you can even take a ferry to or from Andros, if you prefer. So, depending on where you're coming from, you can arrange to fly into Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) or Nassau International Airport (NAS), and take a connecting flight directly to Andros Town Airport (ASD). And there's no need to look for a taxi once you land on Andros - there are always taxis right there - and it's just a ten-minute drive from the airport (Andros Town airport is also known as Fresh Creek Airport) to Small Hope Bay Andros lies 30 miles west of Nassau (15 minutes by plane or 2and a half hours by ferry) and 175 miles southeast of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (one hour by commuter plane). There are four airports serving Andros -- San Andros, Andros Town, Mangrove Cay and Congo Town. Frequent domestic and international service is available via scheduled and charter airlines. If you want to avoid Nassau (and typically save a day of travel), fly to Fort Lauderdale and use a private charter service to fly directly to South Andros Island (MYAK), where you can clear customs and immigration. This 90-minute journey takes you across the Gulf Stream and over the brilliant azure waters of the Bahamas. Lynx Air now flies direct to our island three times a week from Fort Lauderdale International Airport (Terminal Four, lower level). Flight time to South Andros Island is about one hour.
